Your friend might find good information in material printed by the
Couple to Couple League in Ohio. Sheila Kippley, author of Ecological
Breastfeeding and Child Spacing, often found in the LLL , might also
make mention of this type of discharge. IMO, it sounds like the type of
discharge which accompanies ovulation (like egg white) and suggsts peak
fertility for that month. . It can be noticed at other times, as well
but is most common mid-cycle. Keeping a daily chart can be most useful
and encourages a woman/couple to become familiar with her body and
cycles. Gives her lots of control over her reproductive activities.
Natural family planning, like breastfeering empowers women, but is often
considered unreliable and unscientific mainly because it is not well
studied..
