Dear lactnetters,
first of all I want to thank all of you who answered me on the question
wether preemies need to such on pacifiers to train their sucking reflex or  not.
Based on the information I gave them on it the parents decided not to give a
pacifier or a bottle to the baby. And nurses accepted their decision !!!
Baby is still doing fine, she is gaining so well, that the nurses are afraid
it could be too much, though she is still getting some addititives. She does
not need any help with breathing anymore and  weighs 1500g by now.
Now there is very good news, the baby is now nursin. First time she got 5ml
from her Mom's breasts , yesterday she took 15ml and 30ml from Mom without
exaustion (though she is only supposed to get 25ml per meal). Mom was very
proud and exited, nurses couldn't believe it, they weighed three times to
make sure. Unfortunately baby had gotten a bottle once before because one
nurse did not hear of the parents choice.
I'm going to the NICU tomorrow to show the parents as well as the nurses how
to fingerfeed instead of bottlefeed the baby.
