Hi. I have been enjoying reading the Lactnet postings for months but am now
researching a specific situation at work. I am an IBCLC, but am working as a
staff nurse in a level III NICU. We are revising our breastfeeding protocol
for the premature infant. I am wondering if anyone knows of references to
the use of pacifiers for premies for non-nutritive sucking purposes. I am
not an advocate of pacifiers in fullterm infants but am wondering about
benefits in the premature infant before breastfeeding can be established.
 Thankyou. Cindy Jackson
