Oh wise and knowledgeable ones...

I have a pregnant mom with impaired kidney function at 70% stage 2 renal
disease. .
It is due to scarring to the kidneys as the result of dozens of kidney
stones. She is on a very restricted diet now and the stones have disappeared. The
kidney function has stayed at 70% for 7 months instead of decreasing. In an
effort too preserve the function, she is only allowed no more than 5 oz of
protein per day. There are vegetable restrictions as well due to the oxalate which
also causes kidney stones to recur for her.

Her questions are: One, can she breastfeed exclusively on such a restricted
protein intake. Two. Would the dietary restrictions be modified due to
lactation since they are not for pregnancy. Three. Would the solution be formula
supplementation, and if so, how much would be required?

You, know some weeks all I get are the tough questions. I really miss the
'my nipples are sore' that is easily fixed with a slight adjustment of position
and latch.
It's been one of those weeks for me.

Thanks in advance for any answers you can offer.
