Brenda: I hope these might be of use:

Michaelsen, K. et al (1994). The Copenhagen Cohort Study on infant nutrition
and growth: breast-milk intake, human milk macronutrient content, and
influencing factors. Am J Clin Nutr 59:600-611.
(The one-line summary I have says this study found 150 cc or 5 oz supp given
in the first three days was assoc w/decreased maternal milk volume at 2 and
4 mos.)

I have not read the following. I just selected them from my lists based on
their titles:

Bloomquist, HK, Johsbo, F, Serenius, F, Persson, LA. (1994). Supplementary
feeding in the maternity ward shortens the duration of breast feeding. Acta
Paediatr 83:1122-1126.

Coreil, J. et al (1988) Maternal commitment, lactation practices, and
breastfeeding duration. JOGNN, 17:273-278.

Nylander, G, Lindermann, R, Helsing, E, et al. (1991). Unsupplemented
breastfeeding in the maternity ward: Positive long-term effects. Acta Obstet
Gynecol Scand 70:205-209.

Cronewett, L. Stukel, T. Kearney, M. et al. (1992). Single daily bottle use
in the early weeks postpartum and breast-feeding outcomes. Pediatrics
90:760-766.

Hope this helps.
