I have not been receiving your digests for the last few months, as I just
couldn't keep up with them, but am posting now because I'm hoping some of
you will have the information I need:

I have a client in a pre-natal class who hopes to breastfeed, but has been
told by her physician that it would be risky for her baby, as she is on an
anti-depressant. The client tells me the name of the drug is 'Nardil'
(phenelzine sulphate), but I'm not sure if she spelled it properly for me,
as I cannot find it in any of the reference texts available to me. The
client is happy with the drug's ability to control her depression, but is
discouraged that it might mean she cannot nurse her baby.

Any info. out there on actual risks to bf baby with this drug? If there
actually IS a risk to baby, are there alternative drugs that can be taken so
that Mom may bf safely?
