You should be aware that it is not only people who subscribe to Ezzo,
Ferber and the like who tell mothers of twins to feed their babies on a
schedule. Along with relief bottles, this is standard advice from many
hcp, and is intended to help a mother get her rest and manage the busier
workload required of mothers of multiples. Some will tell them to feed
their babies together, others will tell them to feed their babies
separately, but in either case, the idea of feeding on cue is rarely
thought to be feasible.
Add to this the stress of listening to a baby cry while feeding the
other baby (separate feedings), dealing with older children when your
hands aren't free and you are not mobile (simultaneous feedings),
getting less rest or not at all, recovering from high-risk pregnancy and
interventionist birth, premature or low birth-weight babies and a need
to have a better supply than usual, and I begin to wonder how any mother
of twins escapes sore nipples.
