I have been receiving inquires regarding decreased chances of conception
with nursing past a year. Many of our local OB's tell moms they have to
discontinue breastfeeding because they will never get pregnant. I think
all of us know that is not true and either ourselves or clients we have
worked with have conceived while nursing. My question is in regards to
the question below. She has been having regular cycles for months
now... read on:

"I've been doing that using the charting software at www.ovusoft.com.
You could check it out, there's a 15 day free trial. Then you could
decide if you want to recommend it. I've been doing the temperature
thing -- that says I'm ovulating. I'm tracking the cervical mucous --
that says I'm ovulating, although later than the temperature thing, then
I'm doing the dip sticks and I can't get a clear read on those to save
my soul.

So the question still remains, is there a correlation between nursing
and decreased chance of conception? Baby is 17 months. We're still
nursing at least 4x a day. More if she has her way as she loves to wind
down for naps with nursing, but I'm discouraging that. I'd love to go
to 2 years or until she weans herself, but the clock is ticking as I'm
now 40. We'd hoped to have one at 37 and one at 39, but our miscarriage
at 37 threw that off. I also have to face the possibility that I might
have another miscarriage which would put us back even farther (and be
REALLY heartbreaking.)"

Thanks for your input.
