I was giving a talk today on breastfeeding, jaundice and dehydration today and
got a little off the subject. I do that a lot when I talk about breastfeeding
because I think of something else I just have to get in! Anyway, the person
who spoke before me had told the group that breastmilk is a body fluid and
needs to be treated as such by wearing gloves and avoiding contact with the
milk when preparing feeds in our SCN. I know I have read the CDC guidelines
that breastmilk is classified as food not body fluids but I can't seem to find
those guidelines anywhere right now. Does anyone have them? While people may
choose to wear gloves, it is not required in the BSP guidelines. Please help
me! Thanks. Denise
