I recently presented a program to the family birth unit nurses on our floor. I
felt pressure to present some overall basic breastfeeding information since
almost all of our patients were commenting on the inconsistencies of the
information given to them from each of the nurses. So to bring everyone up to
the same basic info level I bought the book "Breastfeeding the Healthy
Newborn: A nursing perspective". It is put out by the March of DImes and
although it will cost you, you can get a very wonderful outline from that
booklet. You can also get tests and CEU"s for the program if you would like to
offer that to those nurses.
Just contact your local March of DImes chapter and ask them for information.
If you have no luck, please email me privately and I will get you more
information or fax you the order form and other information. It is a great
beginners program.
I would also bring research articles regarding supplementation and what
happens to the breastfeeding process with supplementation.
Good Luck,
Sharon Galvin, RN, IBCLC
Lowell, MA.
