As this has been so thoroughly discussed over the years of lactnet I wasn't
going to repeat my stories but here are 4 quick comments
1. Try going to a dentist for the clipping. They are much more comfortable
working in the mouth and usually have their own concerns for the long term
repercussions to dental development.
2. my husband was done as a school aged child so he could lick an ice cream
cone (really). He remembers it clearly. It was quick, painless and produced
only a drop of blood.
3. Like everything else there is a wide range of degree of tie. In some
cases the tongue is literally attached to the floor of the mouth without a
frenulum. That will require more extensive surgery. Thankfully that is rare.
4. It was useful locally to purchase the video of Dr Palmer's presentation
at an ILCA conference and the video by Dr Evelyn Jain and loan them to
physicians or dentists who have questions.
