Hi all, I am wondering if someone can give me specific instructions on
the re-birthing process? I have a mom with 3 mos. old infant that is still
not nursing well. This mom has breastfed 3 previous babies without
difficulty and is now at wits end. The baby weighed over 9# at birth, but
began losing rather quickly, by 2 wk. check-up baby was under 8# and pedi
recommended supplementing with abm. Baby was bottle-fed due to the fact that
he took so long to be finger fed and mom has other young children. At 4 wks.
midwife found E-Coli in baby's urinary tract and treated aggressively with
antibiotics. Baby is now gaining well but is still mostly bottlefed. Mom
pumps and feeds baby expressed brm. We have tried sns, cup feeding, syringe
feeding, and spoon feeding all with mom skin to skin with baby at breast.
This baby simply refuses to breastfeed! Nothing unusual with baby's oral
cavity or mom's breast. Mother is very motivated to breastfeed, but is time
constricted with 3 small children and part-time peer counselor for WIC. Do
you think re-birthing may be helpful in this situation or is it too late?
 Any help appreciated.

Pam
