Hello, my name is Ann-Marie Berg. I am an RN, BSN, and MSN candidate. I am
currently trying to develop a research based protocol at University of Iowa
Hospitals and Clinics for newborn and preterm infants. This protocol will
allow mothers who give birth to preterm infants the ability to pump breast
milk at home and then administer it to the infant via a cup. This addresses
the issues surrounding breastfeeding the infant that is required to remain in
the hospital. The protocol is actually to assist nurses in feeding via this
method. I have received controversial information off the www about cup
feeding. Please respond to the following questions privately by sending e-mail
to [log in to unmask] (this is my research partner).
#1. Are you using cup feeding for newborn and preterm infants?
#2. Do you have a research based protocol care map with regards to cup
feeding?
#3. Under what circumstances are you using cup feeding?
#4. What level is you nursery? Do you have NICU?
#5. How many deliveries per year?
Thank you very much for your help. Any and all information is appreciated.
