Glory Hallelujah, thanks to God and the wonderful, supportive members of
Lactnet!

The neo, after tremendous pressure from mom and being drowned in factual
data, has relented and is "allowing" the babies to receive banked bm!
The boys received their first REAL milk at 3:00pm today! The girl is
still NPO for now.

This is still a partial victory, he told mom that only the boluses could
be bm, that the continuous feeds would cont. to be artificial milk
because he thought that the nutrients in the bm might cling to the
tubing and not get to the babies! What a crock of insupportable,
illogical garbage that is! Why would bm nutrients "stick" and not abm
nutrients? This is a CONTINUOUS line, meaning the milk is always moving
forward toward the baby. Sounds to me like he is just trying to
maintain his ego and "boss" status.

But, serious progress has been made and mom and I are very thankful for
what we have so far.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you, to all who have provided ideas, facts
and support during this battle. By the way, the nurses on the unit are
thrilled and have thanked mom over and over for her perseverance. They
told her that they have been trying to get this doc to allow the NICU to
be more supportive of bf for 12 years! They had made some progress,
until not to long ago, he didn't allow bm to be used AT ALL! They don't
even have a freezer for anyone's frozen bm. I suggested to mom that
perhaps she might like to purchase and donate a small freezer for the
unit.

Baby steps, taken at tremendous cost, but forward steps none the less.
