I may have shared this story before, but have appreciated others' similar stories so much that I decided to to expand on mine.

My experience was at the Frankfurt Zoo, in Germany. I had been nursing my third adopted baby, Thomas, who about 8 weeks old, since the 16th day of his life. On our zoo trip, I had spent three fourths of my time carrying him in one arm, nursing him both with and without the Lact-Aid. When we reached the monkey house, I saw a bench and told my husband to take the older boys ahead while sat down for a while. I got comfortable with Thomas, then felt someone looking at me. I looked up to see a mother monkey (I don't remember the species, but she was about the size of a cat), who was nursing her baby, taking an interest in us. It was as if this tiny mother and I connected on some spiritual level. For about 30 minutes, we nursed our babies together, resting our eyes at times, looking down every once in a while and hugging our babies closer, etc.. Although she didn't need to supplement her milk supply, like I did, that wasn't what was important. It was the act of mothering that I was witnessing, the way it was meant to be, by a mother who was unaffected by all the artificial things that mankind had put in the way.

Aloha,
Darillyn
