No, glucose water is 5 or 10 cal/oz and breast milk is at least 20 cal/oz,
has protein etc. Why fill baby up with something (glucose water) even more
inferior than AIM? Dr. Jack, I believe, has used glucose water to stretch
a dab of colostrum, but that is different than plain 5 or 10% glucose.
These babies (extreme cases) don't just need fluid, they need the protein,
sugars and fats etc. to get their little selves in gear to nurse!
Sincerely, Pat in SNJ, who has used many methods over the years to get
some, any colostrum or AIM into a baby with a critical need. As in
"whatever works."
