I should have snapped a photo in the local pet store for Jennifer Tow, but I didn't want to cause her apoplexy. You can now buy yoghurt snacks for your dog with "probiotics" and "veterinarians say" you should give it to you dog "every single day". Gee, I didn't realize that cow's milk was an appropriate food for dogs. And it dawned on me that yoghurt snacks with vitamins have long been available in the guinea pig aisle. Our guinea pig never got vitamins because we fed her fresh food including the vitamin C-rich foods that guinea pigs absolutely need (and our sweet dear darling managed to live past her "life expectancy" despite clearly being weaned too soon). Can't imagine what cow's milk products would do to a stomach that was meant to ingest hay and greens with a little bit of fruit and veggies.

Sigh -- what can one say to the momentum of creating a product just because you can and then convincing humans to buy it for every living creature in their home. Its no longer cradle to grave for humans. What next, yoghurt vitamin drops for birds? I mean really, why stop at mammals?
