I would be very interested in the reference you are basing this
recommendation of 8 -- not 7 or 6 -- times in 24 hours on.  Is
'breastfeeding success' deemed to be so knife-edge that babies have to wake
up that extra time?  What age are these babies 'at discharge'?  Here, many
women go home at 6 hours, so most of the first 48 hours would be included.
I assume that you only include this period for the many babies you have born
after unmedicated births.
