Janet writes that breastfeeding may add another component to his treatment
of this mom's ITP that the doctor doesn't want to deal with....

Well too damn bad for him! This isn't his choice! It's hers! He has a
professional responsibility to treat her. My initial reaction is what a lazy
jerk! Then I calm down a little and think, maybe he just doesn't realize
that with a bit of reading on his part (like with HALE for instance) he
might just be able to juggle her medications and learn something to boot.
Maybe he just needs reassurance that there are answers available and that
the mom is willing to work with him...

I would be tremendously disappointed to hear that an MD would be so lazy as
to tell a mother he didn't want to treat her bc something about her case
made it more difficult for him... that's like telling an athlete with
chronic asthma, gee I'm sorry your level of physical exertion makes treating
your asthma more difficult, so stop being a professional athlete, okay? NOT!

I hope this mom stands up for her conviction to breastfeeding and starts
deluging this guy with info!

Hoping it ain't so....
Anne
