Hi lactnetters. A mom wants to know if she should pump some of her milk so
that she can add the Infant Vitamin drops to that milk and give it to the
baby. She says her baby really doesn't like the taste of the drops. I
suggested that she if she has an adequate diet that she probably doesn't have
to give the baby the Vit A,C, & D drops. Was I wrong? I read in K. Auerbach
and J. Riordan that over time the water-soluble vitamins in breast milk
increases and the fat-soluble vitamins declines.(p 113) Human milk is a good
source of Vit A. and I know about Vit D in that if mother's diet is adequate
and the baby is adequately exposed to the sun, Vit D drops are not necessary.

Thanks, Kathy Bodden
