Diane, I did a PubMed search and found a few related research abstracts at:
http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/entrez/query.fcgi?db=PubMed&cmd=Display&dopt=pubmed_pubmed&from_uid=12663294

Sounds as if "failure" as "milk insufficiency" has not been well researched among obese human women; some researchers have postulated a possible problem based on animal studies.
