Dear Dr. Jack and other Lactnuts (do I have that term right???):

Got a call tonight about a particular medication and breastfeeding:

Woman is nursing a 6 mos. old, and has psoriasis on her (the mom's) arms,
legs and back. She has used a topical cream called Dovonex (Calcipotriene)
in the past with excellent results. When she contacted her dermatologist
about this latest flareup of her psoriasis, the derm. refused to prescribe
this cream until she immediately weaned her baby. When she consulted her
pediatrician, he concurred. Help! I find it very hard to believe that a
topical anything could be so dangerous to a six month old (via breastmilk.)
Any thoughts on this??? Thanks, Robin Perry-Carroll, LLLL
