I do wonder if nipple stim will really bring on labor. I don't know
that the risk is theoretical or is it real. But from
givingbirthnaturally website:

" It is a practice often recommended by midwives when a woman is long
past due or when labor is stalled. It causes the release of oxytocin,
the same hormone that causes uterine contractions. This can be done
manually or with an electric breast pump. When this is performed, the
uterus sometimes becomes hyperstimulated, meaning that it gets too
little rest between contractions, so use caution and consult your
practitioner first."

There were quite a few websites telling that this does work and how
to do it. It does seem to work best when the uterus is ready or the
cervix is ripe, can't remember the caveats. But for a mom with preterm
twins in utero, it does seem it could be a risk to earlier labor. Can
the mother safely monitor herself and if feels even one little
contraction, she could stop? Seems to make sense? Or would the labor
then ensue and be unable to be stopped? Seems less likely. Yet,
knowing how very sick 34 wks infants can be, it is somewhat scary to
me to tempt it. I see it as a much more practiceable thing to do for a
diabetic mom who has reached 37 or 38 wks. I also wanted to mention
that if she carries the pregnancy further, like 36 wks or even 34, the
babies may be able to suckle directly, or she likely would be able to
express for them enough after delivery, esp. if she starts expressing
right away.
