If a baby has had some digestive distress due to casein or lactose 
overload or whatever, his gut flora can get out of whack, and 
probiotics can help fix that.  There are probiotics in breastmilk, so 
we wouldn't be giving him anything he hadn't already had.  That said, 
read the labels carefully and give a brand that does not contain milk 
or other additives.  All it takes is mom dipping her finger in the 
powder and baby sucking it off.

I always recommend it when mom or babe needs antibiotics or there are 
any other risk factors for thrush.
