Stella Onions, who was the mother featured in the Daily Mail article
posted yesterday, was interviewed on BBC Radio 2 this afternoon. This
is mainstream, national coverage popular programming. So a really
important spot, and a wonderful message given!

It was an excellent interview, and, of course, came about because of
Lact-Net! Kathy Dettwyler posted in here about looking for a UK Mum for
the article that appeared yesterday.

The link takes you to the entire show, which started at 12.00. The
interview began about 12.32, so if you click the fast forward "15
minutes" twice, and then listen. Interview tails off at about 12.45,
but email comments were read out for some time afterwards.

It was a very good interview, and most subsequent comments were excellent.

I've said this before - I'll say it again! "Extended" (normal term)
nursing practices are the most positive for pushing the envelope on
breastfeeding across the board! Every one of these interviews/articles
gets the message out there. Where once we were hearing programmes about
"Is it normal to breastfeed for a year?" now we are hearing "Is it
normal to breastfeed for four/five years?" :-)

So those of you tempted to say "Look, I'm not saying breastfeed them
until kindergarten..." remember the damage you do when you apologise for
us child led weaning Mums! :-)
