Just out of curiosity, how many of you on Lactnet attended both LLLI (not
physicians), and ILCA this year? How many routinely go to both? When that
question was asked in the annual meeting, only about 15 raised their hands.

If either LLL or ILCA change conference dates, the expense to members will be
prohibitive! Washington DC jumps dramatically in price the week after the
4th (like $20 to $30 per room per night) - also taxes & food costs go up. AT
this point, for either LLL or ILCA to change their conference dates for only
20 to 25 people out of a total of 2500 (1000 ILCA & 1500 LLL - not counting
husbands & kids here) seems a bit goofy because of the costs involved which
will be passed on to the conference attendee. Not a good idea unless you all
have more megabucks to spend than I do...which is why I haven't attended both
conferences ever. I don't have enough money OR time. But this may be my
chance.....

The exciting thing about having both conferences there simultaneously is that
for all of those who have wanted to attend both, but can't be away from
family for 2+ weeks, or can't afford to travel to both, this is YOUR
opportunity to experience both conferences at very reasonable costs!! You
will, for the first time, have the opportunity to pick & choose which days
you want to be at ILCA and which days you want to be at LLL.

And, if you want to choose one over the other, remember that we all have to
make hard choices in life - most of us have had to choose one over the other
anyway because we couldn't afford to attend both. I think this is exciting -
and it will be a great chance for everyone!!

And, keep in mind that ILCA has had conferences EVERY year for the past 10
years.... either the first or second weekend in July, depending on when we
could get the cheapest rates.
