Due to family needs, my planned ILCA roommate is no longer going to Kansas
City. Is anyone out there in LACTNETLAND looking for someone to share a
room with for any or all of the conference? Let me know ASAP. ( My husband
says I snore, but I think he's hearing himself! ) ;D!

An update on my mom with no lactogenesis from 7 weeks ago....When she went
for her 6 week check, having weaned due to baby rejecting breast, even with
SNS, the OB said that her bleeding, still bright red, with bitty clots, was
slightly out of the ordinary, but combined with the uterus, upon internal
exam, feeling squishy, ordered an ultrasound (just like those of you who
responded to my situation had suggested....); picture showed bright spots,
indicating something still happening in there, so mom was prescribed
Methergine to contract uterus, hopefully expelling whatever. Some increase
in clots being passed, however, 1 week post medication, she is still
bleeding. D&C to be scheduled fairly soon. As I had mentioned in my
initial post on this subject, this woman's breasts had shown some pregnancy
induced changes, enlarging her to the AA- AAA cup that she is now. It will
be very interesting to notice if there are any breast changes after the D&C;
time will tell on this one.

To Dr. King: My wish list for you as far as breastfeeding goes would be a
request to the men and women you work with to * think creatively*,
especially in situations where behaviors or symptoms don't fall within the
regular paradigms of breastfeeding management. So very much of medicine
*can* be cut and dried, a quick fix, but it only takes a couple weeks of
reading on LACTNET to reinforce that when you're working with a dyad, it can
be like solving a puzzle or a mystery to get to the bottom of some
breastfeeding dilemmas. To those medical care givers, to all of us- it's ok
that we can admit that we don't know! This mom mentioned above- I got to
the point that I didn't know what else to do, and readily admitted it.
However, the rapport that was built between us has allowed her to keep me
posted on the updating of her condition. If, and it is a big if I know,
something exciting happens to her breasts after the D&C, I'll be frustrated
and sad, and probably mad that her other health care providers didn't allow
me to a team player- or even listen.....

Enough for now- again, anyone need a roommate for ILCA?! By the way, some
of you have seen my fledgling collection of stamps that portray
breastfeeding. I'm in the process of purchasing someone else's collection,
and plan to bring it to KC. Some of these stamps (all from other countries,
none from US) are just gorgeous! Look me up at KC!
