I am a LC at a Level 3 NICU. We periodically have infants that have chyle
that accumulates in the pleural cavity. Ingestion of fat makes the chyle
production increase, so a modified formula is prescribed. Could anyone tell
me how to remove fat from breastmilk? [I have skimmed cream from cow's
milk, and hope there is a more effective method for human milk.] Our
dietician said that we could then supplement the milk with medium chain
triglycerides.
