One night this summer, I woke up to find my 19 (yes, 19) -year-old daughter
trying to get into bed with me because 'she didn't feel too good' and
'needed a hug'. I gave her the hug but I'm afraid I got her to go back to
her own bed after that....call me hard-hearted ; )

My mother never let us come into 'the big bed'  unless we were really ill,
but I note that she is much more relaxed about it with her grandchildren.
If they're staying with her, and  wake up in the night, even when quite
'old' , and are unhappy to sleep alone, she takes 'em in with her. I have
never quite dared to say 'Huh! you never did that with us!'
