To clarify:
Whenever you see yogurt being used in research, you know it is being funded by someone--usually Danone. And, yeah, the message they want us to get is--eat more yogurt. If folks are smart enough to recognize that processed, pasteurized cow milk yogurt is not healthy food to begin with, then the message reveals itself. No, we cannot heal our guts with yogurt or pbx or anything else sold in a package--we can heal our guts by refusing to ingest industrialized "food", demanding it be removed from the marketplace and living in harmony w the microbiota that inhabit our inner and outer worlds. We likely will need to use supplements to support the healing process, but food, real food has to be the take-away message. And in spite of the attempt to cash in on the emerging research on gut flora by Danone, the brain-gut axis needs our attention.

Subject: Changing gut bacteria through diet affects brain function, UCLA study
shows

We need to heal the gut...especially the maternal gut:

"There are studies showing that what we eat can alter the composition and
products of the gut flora — in particular, that people with high-vegetable,
fiber-based diets have a different composition of their microbiota, or gut
environment, than people who eat the more typical Western diet that is high in
fat and carbohydrates," Mayer said. "Now we know that this has an effect not
only on the metabolism but also affects brain function."
