Hello,

I am interested in the discussion about scalding expressed milk to prevent
the lipase action from predigesting the milk and causing a foul smell.
How does scalding effect the ability to store the breast milk. ie. If
milk is scalded how long can it then be kept in the refrigerator? How
about in the freezer? Also, once it is cool, how long can it be kept in
the diaper bag when out and about before it will spoil? I know the
answers for fresh breastmilk, but am unsure about the longevity of the
milk once it's been scalded because I'm assuming that scalding it will not
only inactivate the lipase, but also knock out some of the positive
microbial activity.
