cathy said: Are the number
of prolactin receptors linked to the amount of
glandular tissue synthesised
or is it independent? Can you have plenty of glandular
growth during
pregnancy but an insufficiency of prolactin receptors
which might lead to
delayed or inadequate initiation of lactogenesis II?
-----------------------

complicated, of course, by what happens during birth.
stretching of the perineum upregulates prolactin
receptors- but where are those receptors? I don't
know.

what do we know about why herbal galactogoges work?
and maybe there is such a thing along the lines of
SSRI's (selective seratonin reuptake inhibitors) I
assume all receptors are in constant flux and getting
an SPrlRI could help some people.

Kate Hallberg,http://www.cs.colorado.edu/~kolina/ mom to Ursula (6), Sage (4!) and Benno (12-31-00) I grew up with sex representing the safety I should have had from my family, and failing that, should have been able to expect from the state. I never got a chance at either.- Gaye Dalton
