Hi Jeff,
Anyone seen it? Yes.  HAD it, in fact!  I had an upper labial frenotomy
performed by my dentist when I was in my early 20's.  I was getting caps on my
two front teeth (which were slightly separated due to the frenulum's length).
I think I recall receiving a quick local anesthetic. That's vague since its
been a "few" years. <grin>  I don't recall any discomfort during or after, or
anything more than a drop or two of blood.  No big deal, just as I've read in
posts about the lingual frenulum.  It was done to facilitate positioning the
caps more closely together and for ease in flossing around them.  My dentist
offered me a mirror to watch and I did.  He knew from my work background that
I didn't want to miss seeing anything.  Hope that helps!
