Greetings, I have searched the archives and found many posts re: using
pancreatic enzymes for a breastfeeding mother of an allergic baby. Most of
the posts, however, mention GI trouble as the symptom of allergy. The baby
whose mom I am working with is older (1 year) and has had respiratory
symptoms and poor weight gain, but no GI symptoms. He was finally tested
and testing indicates allergies to many of the staples in this vegetarian
mom's diet. Would pancreatic enzymes help with non-GI symptoms (yes, i
know the enzymes are for the mom - this reveals my incomplete understanding
of the etiology of allergies.) Wouldn't a highly allergic baby have GI
symptoms asa well? How accurate are positive results on allergy
tests? Any input very welcome, as this mom feels she cannot possibly
elminate soy, wheat, corn, nuts, and dairy and several other things. i did
mention that it is possible her baby can tolerate *some* of these things
through her milk, but not directly, and she might try eliminating the
easier ones first, or the ones that elicit the strongest reaction in
baby. her baby had an atopic reaction to direct peanut butter, but other
than that has not had obvious symptoms of allergy, besides runny nose, mild
respiratory symptoms. and poor weight gain (but he *is* "on the
charts"). thanks in advance,
