LACTNET Digest - 9 Sep 2003 - Special issue (#2003-1202)
This summer we began using Medela's 80 ml sterile bottles for milk collection. Our Ross Rep. reported to us (after they Won the contract...sigh)...that formula would be unlimited but, sterile water bottles would be delivered regularly at quarterly intervals...if we used what was available during that time we could order more but, for a charge. Well, our Special Care nursery is growing and we would definitely be running out...and we had. Medela's sterile bottles are only 3 or 4 cents more, 80 ml, dishwasher safe (if that was desired), already have a lid, food grade quality material. Ross will charge and provide Volu-feeds that are not sterile and do not have lids, and/or smaller containers with lids that are not sterile, have ridges in the bottle design, softer pliable material. For a mere3-4 cents more we felt it was a better choice to provide quality products that are breastfeeding supportative and friendly. By the way....we were up front and honest with our Rep during a lunch we had to attend with her and our Team Leader. She is trying her hardest to "schmooze" everyone.
