I am thinking some sort of birth injury? It seems it was a very rapid birth
and so it might be beneficial to try CST. Perhaps the baby is in a position
while bf that aggravates a sore area. The other thing I would be thinking is
baby has a flow preference but if he wasn't really latching well in
hospital, it doesn't make as much sense as injury. If it's a flow thing, mom
can try a #5French tubing with milk in a syringe, and with assistance,
quickly give the baby a bolus of milk when he latches. When I get a baby
like this, I try to give them a good physical exam or you can have his
primary hcp do this. I have picked up broken clavicles and abdominal
distention/sepsis, for example, in babies that are just not happy. I would
suggest this before CST. I'm not a midwife or very knowledgeable about fetal
positions etc, but is anything known about the baby's presentation or lie?
