I am hypothyroid myself, so I'll take a crack at this. Replacing her
thyroid to appropriate levels should be helping this mom make more milk, not
less. My guess? When she doesn't take her meds, her whole body slows down,
and she sits down a lot more and her children have the chance to nurse more
often. The half life of T3 is only 24 hrs, and if she is one of those lucky
people who doesn't do a particularly good job of converting T4 to T3, she
really could "run out" very quickly after she starts skipping doses.
