LOVED your comment and the comments of the physician and your letter back
to him. You are, of course, absolutely correct on all counts. You will
recall that I metnioend I knew this person very well as a close (not
intimate) friend, and that I urged caution in using it.

Such a comment works best when one knows one's audience and that probably
should never be other than one-on-one.  The key to sexist remarks (if they
are to be usefully applied) is that they make both parties think, not that
they necessarily accurately reflect reality.
