Renee says,

<<I am hoping that the doctors and nurses in the NICU are well
informed and will talk her into it, but who knows. Just needed to vent and
hopefully get an online hug or two for my failure and inadequacy as a
breastfeeding
advocate. Guess I really failed this one. :(>>

Renee, this is like being an anti-smoking advocate, and trying to get mom to
stop smoking because it is best for her lungs. You can't. She "knows" all
the right answers. Don't continue to push her for the sake of your
friendship -- simply accept her for who she is and the decisions she makes. However,
that said, perhaps if you took it out of the context of breastfeeding, and
tell her that you understand she doesn't want to breastfeed, but would she
consider providing breastmilk for her baby just as long as the baby is in the
NICU.....

Sorta like telling a mom who smokes that she doesn't have to quit, but would
she consider only smoking outside.....

Do NOT take it personally -- there may be issues in her life that you know
nothing about, including sexual abuse.....
