In Hebrew the words for breastfeeding and baby come from the same root -
which is also the root for mammal. A mammal is a 'yonek', a baby is a
'tinok' and what the baby does on the breast is 'linok' - or in present
tense, single, male form, 'yonek.' The mother breastfeeding is the same
root but in the verb form of doing something to someone. The language
makes it vey clear what babies should be doing.
All the best,
Chayn in Israel
