I would be very interested to know if there have been any studies
comparing the use of pacifiers to nursing babies sleeping in the same bed as their
mothers under safe conditions (no fluffy covers, non-smoking, etc.)

Right, basically, we should know if babies who are put at higher risk
because they are sleeping alone in unnatural positions then "need" to be
heavily swaddled and pacified with artificial mommy parts to make up for it -
need specific measures to compensate for the loss of natural protection and
regulation that happens when babies sleep near their moms, nurse on their
sides, then gently roll themselves to their backs when ready, and are in
constant sensory conversation with their moms during the shared sleep times. If
we don't study the norm, how can we really know much of anything?

Good point, Norma, in my longwinded way...

Peace,
