        Subject: double mastecomy and colostrurm

Dear fellow lactnetters
I am wondering if anyone has an opinion or knowledge of which they can
help with an interesting situation.
A mother had a double mastecomy and bilateral saline implants over 1 year
ago due to very significant and stong family history of breast cancer.
She gave birth to her third child two weeks ago and on day 4 noticed a
seeping of colostrum and could express a drop or two. She is concerned if
perhaps there is still some chance she could get cancer. We assume that
perhaps there was growth of some breast tissue under the areolar during
pregnancy even though all breast tissue was removed and areolar had been
removed and replaced during the mastecomy. Any thoughts on this?

She did give the few drops she had to baby. But her concern is the
possibility of cancer if the production of colostrum was due to growth of
breast tissue. would appreciate any feedback knowledge on this.

Thank you

Ruth
