I am helping to develop a postpartum telephone followup support and
referral program for breastfeeding mothers of normal newborns. We have
roughly 845 normal newborns deliver each year in our tertiary care center.
Sixty to sity-five percent of these infants are breastfeeding at discharge.
Any ideas on:
1. reliable and valid screening tools.
2. the most appropriate time(s) to make followup phone calls after discharge.
3. what level of expertise the person(s) making the phone calls should have.
4. how much time should be alloted for each phone call.
5. how information obtained during the interview can be passed on in an
efficient and consistent manner to the appropriate primary care
practitioner(s) ( OB, GP, PNP, Pediatrician, etc.) caring for the dyad.
I know this is a lot of questions to ask. Any comments you have would be
appreciated.
Thankyou,
