And I agree with both of you. I ask so that I can advise mothers of
preventive measures if they have had the abx. I have found that if mothers
take acidophilus at 4 caps of refrigerated product a day for 2 weeks they
greatly reduce their chances of a yeast overgrowth, as the adidophilus
helps to recolonize the GI tract. I have recommended to mothers that they
give baby a bit of bifidus each day for those 2 weeks, as bifidus is the
normal bacteria in an infant's GI tract. I believe that it has also helped
to reduce the thrush cases.

I was uncertain of the cross-over though, and wanted to know if baby was in
fact medicated. I suspected that she was and I am eager to prevent thrush
if possible.

I see so few women who do not have abx for one reason or other in the
hospital. I have seen 2 in the past 3 months. My clientele is not a normal
sample though because I don't hear from mothers who don't have some type of
problem.

Thank you, all of you who replied to my question.
