Had a question today-- Does gluten in the food mom eats pass
through the breastmilk? Mom has gluten intolerance and eats
essentially a gluten free diet(no wheat, barley, oats,or
other gluten containing grains). She's wondering if any
gluten she ends up eating(by accident, because many
processed foods have hidden gluten) will get to baby. She
has another child that also has gluten intolerance and
wishes to prevent any early sensitization. I know that
breastfeeding has been shown to be associated with less
chance of celiac disease and other inflammatory bowel
disease. This mom has not been diagnosed with celiac
disease, but it's hard to diagnose if the person is not
eating any gluten. Any research cites or other input would
be much appreciated. I'm nomail right now, so please,
please, please email me directly.

Thanks in advance,
