The Aussies Robyn and Anne wrote on July 22 that they "have had more cases
of underactive than overactive thyroid causing excess milk production,
but either is possible, and may cause persistent milk production after
weaning".
I'm having a bit of trouble understanding this. Would you please explain
(to a non-medical background)? I do not have a medical background, but my
daughter very recently was diagnosed with Graves' (hyperthyroidism), so I
delved a bit into the endo texts. Extrapolating from my daughter's signs
and symptoms, and from my reading, I would have thought the opposite
would be true: that over- or underactive thyroid would *diminish* milk
supply. Where did I leave the track? Thanks for your patience. Judy K.
