I'm not an LC, just a birth and postpartum doula.  ;) But I did have a
client who finally got relief from her recurrent mastitis (bilateral x 5)
with acupuncture.  Her Chinese doc said the recurrent mastitis was due to
stagnated chi (the energy that channels through the body - Chinese
Medicine).  He also asked her if there was anything she needed to "get off
her chest" but was hesitating to say.

Turns out she's in a very troubled marriage and recently had a baby with his
new husband.  new husband is very strict with her 17 year old who is going
through all sorts of changes having just changed schools and also having a
new baby sister!  This "holding onto something" gig really rang true for
her.  She's seeing a therapist once a week now to get things off her chest.
No mastitis since.

The mind/body connection is very real.  I'd done all I could for her as a
postpartum doula.  But I knew she still had work to do on her own before the
mastitis would finally clear up....
