Well, that message got MORE replies than anything else I have ever posted
on LACTNET and it had NOTHING to do with breastfeeding/lactation, etc. Oh
well.

UPDATE.

1) Many thanks to the tons of people who wrote me privately. Your
comments/suggestions were both thought-provoking and helpful.

2) My extreme desperation today (Monday) prompted me to call Animal Pest
people (rather than animal control. They were--in a word--not interested.).

3) It cost me $80, but was worth every penny! He (literally) sniffed out
the offending critter--discovered it under my front porch, but couldn't get
it out--too far back--without digging out the entire porch. He thinks it
is an o'possum who came to my house to die in comfort. (the second one to
do so in 4 years, but the first one chose my garage as his expiration
throne.) ANyway, he sprayed this very STRONG LEMON stuff all over my
basement and on the front porch and under the front porch--used the entire
gallon--mostly under the porch. He claims it will last 1 month, by which
time he estimates, the decaying process will have proceeded sufficiently to
no longer generate fumes capable of drawing tears. I do hope so.

One of my clients brought me some powder to use on the porch (she took pity
on me). These women are so caring.

Anyway, am now enjoying the occasional whiff of lemon when the furnace
kicks on and NO MORE essence of death!
