Kathy,
The idea that the difference between a lay breastfeeding counsellor and a
lactation consultant is that the LC has a scale has been proposed on Lactnet
on several occassions by several different people (all Americans I believe)
and it's the type of comment guaranteed to get the hackles of many outside
of the US well and truly raised. It just aint the case everywhere.
"Professional" does not equal "have a scale" let alone "do test weighs."
