Several things really jumped out at me in this posting:

When mothers have adequate amounts of DHA and ARA in
their diet, breast-fed babies receive the benefits of these nutrients.
However, not all mothers in the U.S. consume appropriate levels of DHA
thus a
dietary supplement of this nutrient is sometimes needed. For moms who
choose
to use infant formula -- either right from birth, following weaning from

breast milk or as a supplement to breastfeeding -- Enfamil LIPIL is a
great
option."

A classic "breast is best-sometimes" statement if I ever heard one!
Plants doubt about the quality of mom's milk, and of course the formula
is a great option because it has the known amount of DHA.

Enfamil LIPIL has been shown in some studies to support infant brain and
eye
development when compared to the same formula without DHA and ARA.

SOME studies...and what did the other ones show? Does "some" mean most
or only a few? Only M-J knows for sure?

"While breast milk is the gold standard in infant nutrition, the
reality is that
many moms can't or choose not to breast feed beyond the first few months
of
life for a variety of reasons. Enfamil LIPIL provides DHA and ARA, at
appropriate levels, to help formula-fed infants get off to a great
start.
And, nursing moms will get a DHA supplement to help breastfed infants
get the
optimal amount of an important nutrient."

Oh yes, breastfeeding is a nice flowery ideal to put forth, but, of
course, we all know it isn't right for everyone and isn't it great that
our formula has the APPROPRIATE levels of nutrients and when mom's milk
falls short, we can even help her come closer to our formula.
(TSFICTIMNGIO - tongue so firmly in planted in cheek that I might never
get it out!)

Groan, arrggghhh, etc.

Winnie
